Tara’s Retirement and need of a kidney

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Michele Palmer and I am friends with the Wlodarczyk family. As many of you have heard, Tom passed away last August. After his passing, Tara learned that she was in renal failure and in need of a kidney transplant. After nearly a year of working full time, dialysis and taking care of her boys, Tara has made the tough decision to retire from her beloved St. Agnes School in June. With all she has going on, many have reached out on how we can help her while she searches for a new kidney. At this time, helping financially would take away some of the stress and allow her to focus on herself and her boys.
Another way we can help comes from Tara.

In her own words, she shares her story and a heart felt request:
This past year has tested me in ways I never could have imagined. On August 1, 2024, I lost my
wonderful husband, Thomas—a heartbreak beyond words. Not long after, I was hospitalized for
12 days and diagnosed with end-stage renal failure. Since then, I’ve been undergoing dialysis
three times a week for 3.5 hours—while continuing to teach full- time as a 2nd grade teacher at
St. Agnes Cathedral School in Rockville Centre, NY.
I do this not only because I love my students and my work, but because I have two incredible
sons, Gavin (16) and Declan (13), who still in need of their mom—healthy, strong, and present.
Today, I come to you with a humble and heart felt request:
Would you consider being a kidney donor?
Did you know that in the United States, one (1) in three (3) adults are at risk for kidney
disease? Living kidney donation is a powerful gift that could give me my life back—not just
for me, but for my sons who have already lost so much. If you're healthy and open to
learning more, I would be forever grateful just for the conversation. Feel free to fill out the
donor intake questionnaire and call [phone redacted] if you’re interested in becoming a live
donor and someone from NYU Langone will reach out to you.
Feel free to message me, call/text, or email:
