Our dear friends, Romie Cummings and Tanika Lamar, owners of the beloved local family-owned business, Tanika and the Chef, have recently faced an unimaginable tragedy. A massive pine tree fell onto their home, crushing the roof and devastating their lives in an instant. At the time of the accident, Romie, Tanika, their two youngest children, and their dogs were huddled together in bed. Miraculously, the family survived, but tragically, they lost their oldest dog, Dia, in the accident.

This heartbreaking incident has left them not only grieving for their beloved pet but also without a home. Their house is destroyed, and they are needing to get back on their feet. On top of this, they’ve been forced to halt operations of their business, Tanika and the Chef, a catering & food truck service that has long been a staple in our community.

What They Need

As they try to piece their lives back together, Romie and Tanika are facing overwhelming challenges:

Housing and Repairs: They need immediate funds to repair or relocate after losing their home.

Daily Living Expenses: With no home and no way to operate their business, they need support for basic essentials—food and shelter.

Rebuilding Their Business: Getting Tanika and the Chef back up and running will require financial support to restart operations, restock supplies, and cover any business-related damages they’ve endured.
