Hi, my name is Tamia, and I am reaching out to my community for support on behalf of my sibling and their young children. After facing years of the abuses of the foster care and shelter system, my sibling and their two children, both under the age of 2, are moving in with me. They’ve spent the last 4 months living in a shelter and, most recently, their car. The children—19 months old and just 7 month old-have been through so much, and as you can imagine, everyday is heartbreaking seeing how much they’ve struggled.
We are coming together as a family to offer them the love, care, and security they deserve. My siblings and I, who aged out of foster care, are determined to break the generational cycles of isolation and neglect and provide a better future for her kids. However, healing and starting over won’t be easy, and that's where we need your support.
We are hoping to raise $2,500 to help cover the basic necessities for her young children and provide my sibling with the time and space to rest while healing and looking for permanent stability. Most recently my sibling was hospitalized due to severe insomnia related to postpartum depression. They're recovering now and have started medication as part of their treatment. We’ll need at least 3 months to care for her and her babies, rebuild, and adjust before being able to find employment. During this time, we want to ensure they have everything they need to feel safe, supported, and nurtured.
Your donations will help us cover the following:
- Furniture: Crib, dresser, bassinet, and car seats
- Clothing: New clothes, shoes, and outerwear suitable for the changing seasons.
- Basic Necessities: Diapers, wipes, food, blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals for comfort.
- Medical Needs: Any medical expenses for the babies and my sibling during this transition period.
- Childcare Costs: My sibling will need childcare so they can go back to work.
This is not just about helping a family in need—it's about offering a chance for healing, hope, and the opportunity to break the cycles of hardship that have plagued our family for generations. Your support will make a world of difference in their ability to start over and create a better future.
