Tadhg O'Brien's Eagle Scout Project at Rye Nature Center

My name is Tadhg O'Brien. I am a 17 year old Boy Scout in my local Boy Scout Troop, Rye Troop 2, in Westchester, NY. I am fundraising for my Eagle Scout Project, which is the last step before completing my Eagle Scout Rank, the highest rank in Scouting America. My project is to build and improve an outdoor Mud Kitchen in the Rye Nature Center, a local nature center that serves and provides for our community in many ways.

Rye Nature Center offers programs to people of all ages and abilities. They provide opportunities for conservation, environmental education, and supports our community’s access to nature and the world around us.

This outdoor mud kitchen will be used daily by the preschool program and summer camps that educate the local youth in the Nature Center, providing a hands- on experience with nature for the children of Rye and surrounding towns. Funds for this project will go towards lumber, equipment, tables, and other supplies that will ensure the Mud Kitchen is safe, beneficial, and a valuable addition to our community.
