Hello all! Thank you for taking the time to read this. I’ll keep this long story short because time is very precious right now.

My friend Tabi is losing her mother. She’s been diagnosed with stage 4 triple-negative breast cancer and leptomeningeal disease (meaning the cancer has spread into her spine, brain and central nervous system). This is a terminal diagnosis, with her oncologists estimating she has about a month left. She’s lost her ability to walk and reliably use her hands, and her neurological function is only going to keep getting worse.

Tabi is not only her mother’s caretaker, but one of her POAs, suddenly tasked with balancing both the coordination of her mother’s affairs and the duty of being a caregiver—feeding, bathing, medically advocating etc—all while fighting her own chronic illness battle with myasthenia gravis, a rare neuromuscular disease that significantly limits her physical fortitude and stamina.

Despite the efforts of family and friends coming together and pitching in to care for her mother and sort things out, Tabi is spread impossibly thin right now. Her mother’s recently approved disability payments will not arrive in time to contribute to this effort. She’s a thousand miles from home and needs support.

Donations to this fundraiser will go directly towards at least a month of expenses related to Tabi’s mother’s estate—insurance, rent and a gamut of bills including car and credit card payments—as well as keeping Tabi and her family afloat with essentials like groceries and transportation to and from hospice.
