No Senior Should Age Alone in the Mountains
There’s a moment just after the sun dips behind the mountains—a quiet pause—and for too many older adults in Lake Arrowhead, that pause becomes the whole evening.
My name is Joy, and I live here too.
Lake Arrowhead is a beautiful mountain community, but it can also be isolating—especially in winter. Nearly half of our full-time residents are over the age of 50. Many live on steep, winding roads, far from neighbors, without a dedicated place to gather, stay active, or simply be together.
The Lake Arrowhead Gathering Place was created to change that.
This is not a residential facility. It is a community gathering place for active adults—a place for movement, learning, conversation, creativity, and connection.
We are raising $75,000 to launch Phase One of The Lake Arrowhead Gathering Place.
Phase One: Connection Before Construction
While long-term facility options are pursued responsibly, Phase One allows us to begin now by using temporary pop-up programming sites in the community. These sites will host accessible, low-cost activities designed for active seniors, including:
Movement and balance classes
Social gatherings and discussion groups
Educational workshops and technology help
Seasonal programming to reduce winter isolation
This phase is about bringing people together first—because connection should not have to wait.
The Lake Arrowhead Gathering Place is a registered nonprofit supported by experienced community leaders and partners who believe that aging should include vitality, dignity, and belonging.
If you believe seniors should never age alone—especially in rural and mountain communities—we invite you to donate and share this campaign.
Together, we can bring rhythm, movement, and life back into the evenings.
Thank you for being part of the beginning.https://www.lakearrowheadgatheringplace.org/
