Every autumn, Sutton High Street fills with lanterns, music and the smell of street food as thousands of people come together for our free Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival. This year it lands on Saturday 26 September 2026, and we'd love your help to make it happen.

Sutton Celebration is a volunteer-led community group celebrating East and Southeast Asian cultures in Sutton, South London. We run two free festivals a year — Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn — each welcoming a few thousands of people of all backgrounds. There are tradition music and live Kpop dance performances, children's activities with games and crafts, lantern-making, calligraphy and riddles, a bustling festival market and hot-food stalls. It's completely free to attend, and it's powered entirely by around 50 volunteers who give their time because they believe in bringing our community together.

Putting on a day like this costs money — performers, venue hire, decorations, children's activities and all the small things that make the festival feel special. This year we have a gap to close. A partner who previously funded our performances and venue space isn't able to support us this time, which leaves around £2,000 of essential costs without a backer. That's where you come in.

Who runs the festival?

Sutton Celebration, a volunteer-led community group celebrating East and Southeast Asian cultures in Sutton. We work alongside People Arise Now, the Sutton Hongkonger Group and Sutton Council.

Is the event really free?

Yes — both the community celebration and the market are free to attend. Fundraising is what keeps it that way.

Who handles the money?

People Arise Now receives and holds all funds through this page and pays festival costs on our behalf. Sutton Celebration doesn't operate its own bank account.

Can my business sponsor instead of donating here?

Absolutely — we have sponsorship tiers from £50 to headline partnerships, with logo and branding benefits. Please get in touch.
