Hello, this is Aditya Chawla, Sushil Padmanabhan’s son-in-law who is seeking help for his Mom & Sister-in-law.

Sushil 64 years old, passed away about 2 weeks ago, leaving behind his wife (Rita Sushil) and 2 daughters (Christina and Cathrine). He was a wonderful, loving, caring and cheerful person. He had the zest for life and wanted to always help people in whatever way he could because he believed in and lived by “The generous person will prosper, And whoever refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”

He retired in May 2018 at the age of 58 years. He was living his simple life until things took a turn and changed suddenly….

He never had any health issues all his life but as of mid 2020 he started having abdominal pain and weight loss and series of investigations led the doctor to conclude that it is abdominal Koch’s (Abdominal TB) and the doctor started his ATT meds. After 9 months of harsh ATT treatment still there was no signs of improvement.

Because of continued weight loss and stomach issues, in January 2022 he underwent blood tests for auto immune disorders & the doctors concluded he has Crohn’s disease.
A person who enjoyed food, at this point started getting scared of eating for the fear of pain and throwing up.
In this process, he developed drug induced hypothyroidism. And he kept loosing more weight.

But still no answers…but was reassured that it is because of Crohn’s.

Finally in November 2023, he decided to see another doctor. He was investigated again.
The reports stated the diagnosis as NHL (Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma). He was referred to an oncologist and was further investigated to find that he had aggressive B cell Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stage 4.
It was a shock for the family and brought great sadness because of being misdiagnosed for 3 plus years…

Mr Sushil was a man of will power so he was determined to fight for his life and started his treatment immediately. Chemotherapy treatment was expensive. And his funds started depleting.

In early March 2024, after his complete cycle of chemotherapy, doctors were expecting good results & had planned for a PET CT scan.
But on 23 March 2024, he stated having severe abdominal pain again and was rushed to the emergency room to find out he had an intestinal perforation which needed an emergency surgery.

Due to delay in proper diagnosis and treatment and also post operatively he had lost all his muscle strength & his body weight was only 47 kg.

23 April 2024 his blood pressure started dropping & had fever so he was rushed to the hospital & the doctors said he has developed sepsis and needs ICU admission.
He had exhausted all his funds so we asked friends for help and arranged money for dad’s admission to start the treatment.

He was intubated and put on a ventilator, needed dialysis and was on ionotropic support.
We were hoping he would get better, but his organs started to fail and he could not recover from that and he passed away on May 3rd 2024.

It is devastating and a big loss for the family. He meant the world to his family.

We would like to support them so that they can payoff the medical and funeral expenses and their burden of paying off the loans for his treatment.

Any contribution made to this fund, will be greatly appreciated beyond measure by myself and the entire family and will go towards paying off bills and helping Mom and sister in the aftermath to have some funds to re-establish themselves.
Thank you for your generous support!
