Summer's Eagle Scout Project Fundraiser

Summer has asked me to help create this GoFundMe campaign to raise money for her Eagle Scout project. Here is a message from Summer:

Help Me Build a Community Fence and Achieve Eagle Scout!

Hi, my name is Summer, and I’m on the final step of my journey to becoming the first female Eagle Scout in Troop 614, Scotts Valley. As part of earning my Eagle rank, I’m leading a community service project that will have a lasting impact.

This project holds special significance to me because my grandfather was an Eagle Scout, and I’ve always wanted to follow in his footsteps. I was in Girl Scouts before joining Scouts BSA, and it is a tremendous honor to be working towards achieving the rank of Eagle Scout—especially as the first girl in my troop to do so.

About My Project:

For my Eagle Project, I am building a 60-foot wood post and nautical rope fence for the Home of Peace Cemetery in Santa Cruz.

This project is particularly meaningful to me because my relatives on my father's side are buried at Home of Peace. For years, there were no new plots available, and families could not be buried alongside their loved ones. Now, with this newly leveled area, future generations can be buried with their relatives.

Additionally, my family, the Häber family, were founding members of Temple Beth El and have been influential in the Santa Cruz community for many years. Though I am Catholic, my family’s legacy is deeply tied to the Jewish community. My family owned Häber’s Furniture and the Terrace Court Motel, now the Beach Street Inn and Suites, and contributed to the growth of Santa Cruz. Completing this project honors both my family's history and the needs of the community.

I am excited to bring this vision to life and use the leadership skills I’ve developed through Scouts.
