Support Summer Rajapaske's Family After Tragic Fire

Friends, we as a Visitation community are raising funds for Summer Rajapaske and her family, (granddaughter of Pamela Kirschman) As you may have heard, at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, February 9th, a fire broke out in her family’s apartment in Bay Ridge. She was not home at the time of the fire, but her family was. Her stepfather, Gregory Fernandez, a Navy veteran, tragically passed away as a result of the fire. Summer’s brother and mother are currently in the ICU being treated for their injuries.

The FDNY reported that due to cars parked by fire hydrants overnight, their rescue and containment efforts were hindered as a result. Every second counts in an emergency.

Summer was in Kindergarten when Visitation announced it was closing. Our precious school might have closed its doors last year, but the bonds and ties to our school remain. We as a community wish to do whatever we can to help this desperate family in need. As our beloved saying goes, “Once a VA girl, always a VA girl.” ❤️
