Support Summer Lunches for Local Youth
Donation protected
THANK YOU!!! We have reached out goal and we are so grateful for your support!
The Friends of the Bernardsville Public Library would like to make simple lunches available to youth this summer who may need them.
More than 250 children in the Somerset Hill School District are eligible for free and reduced lunches. Unfortunately the library is ineligible for the USDA summer lunch program, as it requires a 50% student need. As these children and others may be facing greater food insecurity during the summer months, the Friends of the Library would like to fill this gap.
Based on participation in other public libraries' lunch programs, we plan to provide 20 lunches per day. We will not ask for any documentation from recipients, and a local food bank is willing to facilitate bulk purchasing assistance for this program to assist with overall costs.
The bagged lunches will include a simple sandwich, a fruit item, a napkin, and a water. This will cost about $63.00 per day.
Can you help us raise $4,600 to provide this option for six days per week over twelve weeks?
We thank you in advance and appreciate any support you are able to offer.
UPDATE: We have exceeded our goal and are no longer accepting donations. Thank you for your generosity and support!!
