Support Sue's Mission: Give Sisu Its Flowers!
Donativo protegido
Hi, I'm Sue! I live on the same street as Sisu Youth Services Shelter. Sisu is a low-barrier, identity-affirming shelter in Oklahoma City that provides a safe space for young adults (15-24) transitioning from foster care, attempting to establish adult independence, or who no longer have a home situation with their families due to economic or familial issues. My son and I have been part of Sisu's Meal Train for a couple of years, providing evening meals for 40 or so residents several times a year.
When the 30th street space was first renovated, it had lovely landscaping. Time and lack of funds and volunteer hours have caused nature to take back some of the ornamental plants, so my 16 year old and I (along with our green thumb friend Rita) requested and received permission to plant some flowers (with help from Sisu's young residents) at the end of May.
If you would like to participate by donating funds to buy flowers and garden soil, that would be amazing! The cost isn't prohibitive, but many hands make light work as my Granny Jessie used to say!
