2026 is a group of students and teachers traveling to Puerto Rico to conduct service learning projects!

project 1: Fitness Center for the Elderly in Juana Díaz
Objective: Students will create a small gym for senior citizens by purchasing exercise equipment including a 6x8 gym mat, a dumbbells set, and two gym mirrors (4x6 each).
Educational Impact: Through this initiative, students learn about the significance of physical health and wellness in all ages, while gaining experience in project management and budgeting.
project 2: Autism Awareness Walk & Donations in Ponce
Objective: This sponsorship will help purchase t-shirts and a banner to support the Startbright Academy annual autism walk and programs. We are also collecting fidget toys to donate to their programs.
Educational Impact: Students will gain awareness and understanding of autism, fostering an inclusive environment and enhancing their social responsibility.
Project 3:Universidad de Puerto Rico Utuado Farming Project
Objective: Support our students' expedition and service-learning project with a local farm.
Educational Impact: This project provides hands-on learning experiences in agriculture and environmental science, fostering a connection between academic learning and real-world applications.
project 4:Feed the Elders in Vega Baja
Objective: Assist the Happy Givers Foundation in their mission to deliver free meals to the elderly, enhancing their access to nutritious food.
Educational Impact: This project provides students with practical experiences in community service, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving
project 5: Art Mural in Yauco.
objective: students will take an art workshop & create a mural with a local artist in Yauco to contribute to their community initiative to beatify the city of Yauco after Hurricane Maria.
Educational Impact: fostering collaborative skills, enhancing cultural awareness, and promoting critical thinking about local history or social issues.
project 6: remodeling and taking donations for Orphanage in Loiza
Objective: Students will purchase supplies to paint the facility recreational area to recreate a welcoming and interactive environment.
we are also collecting shoes for this orphanage for ages 2-10 years old. Preferably crocs like sandals
Educational Impact: development of valuable transferable skills, enhanced personal growth (like empathy and social responsibility)
project 7: Senior Day & donations for Senior Center in Sabana Grande
objective: Students are collecting and purchasing clothing donations such as socks, t-shirts, pajama pants, and underwear for the elderly at the center. Students will have a celebration for the seniors with music, dominos, and food.
Educational Impact: promoting lifelong learning, enhancing cognitive function through mental stimulation, and offering intergenerational knowledge exchange.
