Support Student Journalism by donating $10

Please join me in supporting student journalists at Eric Hamber Secondary School in Vancouver, British Columbia. The BC government recently made changes to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act which has impacted the work of student reporters.

The application fee is now set at $10 per request, The Nest Editorial Board wrote the Vancouver School Board asking future FOI application fees be waived. They were denied and told to remember how much of staffs’ time they take up.

The response from the Superintendent at the Vancouver School Board is attached.

At $10 per application fee I’m hoping to raise enough money for at least a hundred FOI requests, the Editorial Board can decide what to do with any extra funds. Supporting FOI application fees for student journalists elsewhere in the Province would be encouraged.
