Support Street Safe NM After Break-Ins

Tax deductible
Street Safe New Mexico has been working slowly but surely to get our drop-in center, The Salon, renovated in the International District. The Salon will provide a safe place for our clients to spend time off the streets, where they often experience violence and harassment. We will also be able to more adequately assist them at The Salon with bathrooms, laundry machines, internet access, hygiene supplies, clothing, beverages, and food—to mention just a few things.

Recently, our progress with renovating stopped when thieves broke into The Salon twice in less than a week. The first time, they took our tools and some other supplies. They got away with our compound miter saw, drills, generator, ladders, insulation, tin snips, and a number of different items that we need to replace before we move forward with renovations. The second time, they came back and used the tools they stole to try to get back inside. We had done major reinforcements after the first break-in, so they cut through metal to gain entry using our tin snips.

Are you able to help us get back on our feet? We will accept donations, as well as tools that you'd like to donate. Do you have an extra hammer lying around or a drill you don't use? Maybe a pair of tin snips or insulation? Let us know. We operate on a shoestring budget and always appreciate the help that we receive. We also won't keep any tools on location there from now on. Lesson learned!

We did file a police report and tried to get APD to help us recover our stolen items from the thieves (who were staying at the Bow and Arrow Lodge), but they declined to assist us.
