In August the court date was continued to October 20th and 21st. I’m asking for extra financial support this month to cover the missed days of work. The hearing days are from 8:30-4:30, and the following day is blocked off for Parent Teacher Conferences. Any help you can offer will be SO appreciated. I will use it for groceries and some bills.

Hi, my name is Stephanie. I’m a single mom of two, a breast cancer survivor, and an active member of my community. My daughters, Lillian (10) and Violet (9), are starting school on August 14th. I’m raising money to cover the cost of supplies and clothes as well as supplementing rent. Violet has multiple disabilities which require rigorous support from her speech therapist, occupational therapist, and physical therapist all year long.

Lillian and Violet spend the first 7 weeks of summer with their dad in Texas. While they’re away, I work as much as physically possible, often cleaning two or three homes a day throughout the week. Once they are home and Violet’s therapy schedule resumes, it means I have a really hard time working enough to cover all of our costs, especially when they aren’t in school.

Their dad pays $2,070 each month in child support per our custody agreement. Between rent ($1,400), car payment ($350.51), and insurance ($287), very little is left. Violet has vision therapy at Katmai Eye and Vision Center once a week; the out-of-pocket cost is $180. The rising cost of groceries means we spend almost $200 each time we replenish basic necessities. My income is critical to our survival, but work must come second to Violet’s therapeutic needs.

Since 2020, their dad has been suing me in an attempt to overturn our agreed divorce decree. My current bill from my lawyer is almost $18,000, which I expect to be paying off for years to come. I will be glad to share more about my case with anyone who wants more information as to why I’m fundraising, but I should avoid going into detail here since we are in litigation. Suffice to say, he has the resources to drag me through court without impacting his lifestyle. Meanwhile, I’ve battled breast cancer and been the primary caretaker of our children.

He is currently in arrears $77,000 plus interest per an Agreed Judgment in Dallas County.

In spite of all we’ve been through, we are happy and healthy. I’ll keep doing everything I can to support my little family and make sure they have what they need.
