Hi, my name is Stan Wellner. I’m the owner of the Prairie Chicken gentlemen‘s club north of Chamberlain, South Dakota. I ended up having a fire on the entryway to my house which is connected to the bar. The house and the bar are connected. The fire got started from an Ember that went out to chimney and landed on my roof which cedar shake shingles and it’s been dry here all winter so it didn’t take much for him to get going, I lucked out an awful lot because the wind wasn’t blowing, which is unusual for South Dakota. Some pass her by called it in. It was about 6 o’clock in the evening. It’s just getting dark so they could spot the fire on the roof is how they’ve seen it. The first one they got to the house for the fire was the Crow Creek. I don’t know what they call themselves prairie fire truck so he was here in my backyard while we were struggling to get a garden hose to put water on it. They said because of some policy they couldn’t put water on it cause it’s on private ground so he sat here for a half hour with a truckload of water and watched it burn. It took at least a half hour for the rest of the fires to show up when they showed up good thing the wind wasn’t blonde it would if I took my whole house but they got it put out we just started working on it today. We had to leave brace the rafters that burned into them a little bit. Don’t know yet for sure what it’s gonna take fix it but we aren’t gonna put cedar shake shingles on no more we’re gonna put steel on. I decided to do this because I have a lung problem that I have to be on oxygen my main living has been grooming cattle giving haircuts to cattle which I found out last fall is the smoke was bothering me too much so I had to quit that job so the Prairie Chicken is all I have right now in business has been real slow since the Covid deal so I thought I’d just reach out for a little help. I appreciate it. Thank you.
please please share this out so we can help Stan to try and rebuild his home !!
