Dear Friends and Family,
I will be working as a volunteer with Courage Worldwide, an international non-profit organization working to provide residential care and therapeutic services to children and young women who have survived sex trafficking. Through their residential program, Courage House, they provide a safe, loving environment for minor victims of sex trafficking, paired with a comprehensive, holistic approach to mental health, psychosocial services, and educational assistance, in addition to spiritual guidance. These Courage Houses are a true gold standard of care, providing a healing and therapeutic environment 24/7 based on a healthy family home model.
There are currently two safe houses in Tanzania, Africa: two Courage Houses for minors, and one transitional program called Courage House Too for those over 18 who are transitioning into independence. Courage Worldwide’s goal is to provide safe houses and resources for child victims so they can reach their unique potential. It is my desire and aim to travel to Tanzania and volunteer at Courage House while fundraising to help the organization achieve its goals.
Sex trafficking is the fastest-growing crime in the world, second only to drug trafficking. The US Department of Justice estimated it to be a $32 billion global industry annually, with estimates of $9.5 billion annually in the US. Unfortunately, there are far too few safe houses and programs to adequately meet the needs of these children.
The problem is real. The need is great. I want to make a difference in the lives of these children and young women—will you help me? I need to raise $3,000 for my airfare, lodging, and food. Any money raised above the amount needed goes towards the residents’ basic needs at Courage House as well as their education and therapy.
I appreciate your prayerful consideration in helping me change the world, one individual at a time.
Blessings,
Stacy
