Our neighbors all over the Twin Cities Metro have now been enduring "Operation Metro Surge" since December 1st. Families have been torn apart, are sheltering in place or fleeing to undisclosed locations so to not be swept up in immigration raids. Children are absent from school. All in fear and response to the federal immigration initiative by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in our community.
As neighbors, we have responded with significant pushback but we need your help.
We are a small but mighty group of your Southwest Minneapolis neighbors. We have created this fund to administer individual support to meet the urgent needs of our community in crisis. We are asking for your donations to meet the following :
- Rental assistance;
- Food and food delivery;
- Healthcare access and services;
- Transportation services;
- Legal support services.
For privacy reasons, many of these families are afraid to ask, afraid to self-identify and in fear of anything that may lead to their identities and immigration status being disclosed.
This grassroots group is attempting to help meet our community's needs throughout the metro in the most protective way we know: addressing each need as it comes in with privacy and financial support.
In tandem with this fund, we will be creating a signup genius detailing specific community needs as they continue to arrive. The connected signup can be found here:
Thank you for your support for our response to Operation Metro Surge. We area all stronger together as neighbors helping neighbors.
