My name is Sophie Brady, and I’m so excited to share that this coming March, I will be going on a mission trip to Jamaica with my college ministry, Awakening. I joined Awakening at the beginning of the school year and have consistently attended Monday nights to learn more about the character of Jesus and what it truly means to live like Him.

This will be my second opportunity to serve abroad. Last spring, I was blessed to travel to the Dominican Republic, where we met locals, shared testimonies, and learned together about living for Christ. That trip changed my heart—it gave me a stronger community, a deeper faith, and the courage to take the next step by getting baptized. I have faith that God will move powerfully again on this trip to Jamaica.

We will be partnering with IsleGo Missions, an organization that serves communities across the Caribbean and South America. Our team will be working in St. Ann’s Bay, the capital of Saint Ann Parish. This is a deeply impoverished community where families are in great need. While there, we’ll help with construction projects, serve meals to hungry families, visit the local infirmary, and spend time playing with the children each afternoon. We’ll also attend a local Jamaican church service to worship alongside the community we’re serving.

At the end of each day, our team will have time to rest, debrief, and reflect on what we’ve seen and learned. On our final day, we’ll experience the beauty of Jamaica by visiting the local market and Dunn’s River Falls, a stunning waterfall in St. Ann’s.
