Support SLO Mishelanu — A Home Away From Home for Israeli Students

SLO Mishelanu is a student-led community for Israeli and Hebrew-speaking students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Our mission is simple but deeply meaningful: to give Israeli students a space to connect, speak their language, share their culture, and feel at home,, even when we’re thousands of miles away from Israel.

While there are many amazing Jewish organizations on campus, SLO Mishelanu is different. We’re not just about faith or religion. We’re about culture, identity, and belonging. We speak Hebrew, play Israeli music, talk about what’s happening back home, and laugh over the same inside jokes, TV shows, and games that we grew up with. It’s a place where students can be fully themselves, not having to explain who they are, where they come from, or why they miss home.

Throughout the year, we host a wide variety of events that bring our community together in fun and meaningful ways:

These events are more than just activities, they’re moments that help Israeli students reconnect with their roots, speak their mother tongue, and find strength in shared identity. Many of our members are far from family, serving as international or first-generation students, and SLO Mishelanu truly becomes a “home away from home.”

Your support will help us keep building this special community. Donations will go directly toward funding our cultural events — covering food, transportation, materials, and activity costs — so we can make sure every Israeli student on campus feels welcome and included, regardless of financial background.
