Serving with Mercy Ships: A 2-Year Mission of Healing and Hope
Hi friends,
I’m Simone, and I’m stepping into a bold new chapter—joining Mercy Ships for a two-year volunteer mission to bring life-saving/life-changing medical care and spiritual support to communities in need across Sierra Leone, West Africa. I’m following my call to serve aboard the Global Mercy—a floating hospital that brings free surgeries and medical care to underserved communities in West Africa.
Mercy Ships, a global nonprofit, has been operating a fleet of hospital ships in developing countries since 1978. Following the 2,000-year-old example of Jesus, Mercy Ships brings hope and healing to the forgotten poor, delivering free surgical care and medical capacity-building support to help strengthen local healthcare systems in Africa. Mercy Ships is staffed by volunteers—surgeons, nurses, teachers, and everyday people—bringing hope and healing to those who’ve never had access to safe, lifesaving healthcare.
Serving with Mercy Ships has been placed on my heart for the better part of 10 years, and now God has opened the door for this to manifest and come to fruition.
For the next two years (October 2025 - November 2027), I’ll be living and working full-time on board as Assistant to the Chief Steward, supporting the daily operations that keep the crew nourished, cared for, and mission-ready.
This role beautifully weaves together my background in hospitality, healthcare, event planning, and academia, allowing me to serve with excellence, compassion, and purpose. But this mission is more than logistics—it’s about showing mercy, sharing hope, and being the hands and feet of Christ in places where healing is desperately needed.
Since Mercy Ships requires that I provide 100% of my support, I’m raising funds to cover my volunteer expenses, including:
*Room and board
* Vital vaccinations and medical care
* Travel to and from deployment locations
* Daily living essentials
* Faith-based resources
I invite you to join me on this journey by supporting me with prayer and a commitment towards my monthly expenses. You can make a single gift or a recurring pledge.
If you are led to give, share, or pray—thank you. You’re not just supporting me; you’re helping bring healing to thousands who’ve waited years for care. If you’ve ever wanted to be part of something bigger than yourself, this is your chance. Together, we can be part of something extraordinary.
Thank you for donating and sharing this campaign. Let’s bring light to places that need it most. Pray for strength, safety, and divine appointments. Pray that every conversation had, and every act of service reflects God’s love.
With gratitude and faith,
Simone

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
