Sometimes life throws unimaginable challenges at the most amazing people.

Shon and his devoted wife, Maddie, started their story when they met in the military, both serving our country. They were just beginning an exciting new chapter of their lives settling down in Florida, buying their first house and becoming new parents to sons Grayson, nearly 3 years old, and their newest arrival, Bryson, 6 months old!. Shon committed to his community by working as a police officer, and Maddie stayed home with the two boys.

Their joy was suddenly and devastatingly interrupted last month when Shon was diagnosed with stage 3/4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a very aggressive cancer that has already attacked his chest, lungs hip, and stomach.

In a moment that no young family ever expects to face, their world changed completely, and now they will need our support more than ever.

For those of you who know Shon, have met him, or know of him, you know how kind, strong, and hardworking he is.

Shon has learned over the past month that he has a long, difficult journey ahead of him. Over the upcoming months, Shon will have to endure chemotherapy and intensive treatments at the hospital, with a long road to recovery ahead of him. This comes with immense challenges and pressures put on his wife, who is caring for the two babies. While they remain strong in spirit and faith, the road ahead will come with financial burdens as the family focuses on healing and medical care. Shon will be out of work indefinitely.

Shon and Maddie come from a foundation of love and giving—always there for others in times of need. Now it’s our opportunity to return that love. Let’s show them they are not alone in this battle. With both of them living far from family and close friends, they will need this help now more than ever.
