On September 21st, my sister Sherifa’s world was shattered when her beloved wife, Vex, of 20+ years passed away suddenly and tragically. Vex was not only her partner in life but her safe place, her joy, and her biggest supporter. Their love was deep, genuine, and inspiring to everyone who knew them.

Sherifa has an incredible circle of emotional and physical support around her, but as many of us know, love alone doesn’t pay the bills. While she navigates this heartbreaking new reality, she is also faced with the overwhelming financial burdens that come with loss—household expenses, bills, and unexpected costs that no one ever plans for.
