Support Shelly's Fight Against Multiple Cancers

My mom's name is Shelly. I wanted to start this GoFundMe in the hopes that it will reach someone, anyone, with love in their hearts and the ability and want in any capacity to help her. This is her story.

10 years ago, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which is a blood cancer. It can attack your blood, bones, and organs. In my case, it attacked my kidneys. When I was first diagnosed, they found that my kidneys had already shut down. I immediately went on dialysis and stayed on it for about 3 years. I worked very hard and was able to come off of dialysis for about another 3 years. But it took its toll on my kidneys, which would land me back on dialysis again, and I have been on it for almost 5 years now. More recently, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. My left kidney was completely dead and eaten up with cancer, so it had to be removed. After that, I went on immunotherapy for a few weeks before a spot on my left lung was found, and I was told I have small cell carcinoma. So the kidney cancer took a back seat to the lung cancer, and I started chemo for the lung cancer. Along the way, I’ve had a bone marrow transplant and triple bypass surgery that almost killed me. The hospital I was in sent me home with an infection in my incision and a collapsed lung. I was only home for about 2 hours when my daughter had to call an ambulance. They said they could smell the infection as soon as they walked in my front door. This led me to be put on life support and having to learn how to eat, swallow, drink, walk, and then do PT to gain back some strength. I have never been the same since this.

If it can happen, it has happened to me. None of my cancers are hereditary or connected to the other ones. It’s just the way the cards fell for me.

I don’t tell you this for sympathy. I only wish to share my story in hopes of getting some help. I am a very private person, so this is not easy for me. But right now, I have chemo 3 days a week and radiation 5 days a week, and my oldest daughter has been using Uber to get me to my appointments because my car is broken down. It’s gonna cost $850.00 to get it fixed, and I’ve somehow scraped up the money to finally do that, but now I’m late on my car payment, and they are threatening to take it. I’m tapped completely out, and so are my kids, and we could just use a little help right now.
