Help my Queer Fam move to PDX!

Hi Friends/Family/Community!

My birthday is coming up, and this year I want to rally to raise funds for my beloved friends, Shelly & Eryan (and their 3 fur babies!) to be able to make a cross-country move from our home state of Florida to join me in Portland, OR. (!!!)

This move has been a long time coming. The state of affairs in Florida has made it increasingly unsustainable for many folks to build a life beyond survival (I've experienced this myself). My girls, like me, love our homeland but have decided it's time to try living somewhere new.

Shelly & Eryan are some of the most generous humans I've ever known. They share what they have regardless of how much or little there is to go around. I want them to know what it is to receive that kind of support. They deserve a chance to make a fresh start in a place where they have community, resources, and opportunities to live fuller, more nourishing lives.

Their goal is to get to PDX by Sept/Oct, so this would be happening soon!

The ask is $3,000.

Moving cross-country, especially with pets, is expensive. This doesn't cover all of the expenses they've calculated, but would make the move much more possible/do-able, especially when accounting for housing costs and a brief adjustment period to settle into Portland and find work.

I've never fundraised like this before so I'm not sure how much we'll raise, but anything y'all can give is deeply appreciated. If we raise $100, great. If we raise $5K (which would ensure a smooth move/transition) incredible!

These women are my chosen family. My queer kin. To have them near me, to help them make this important transition, to watch them bloom in new, surprising ways...I couldn't think of a more life-affirming gift to receive for my birthday.
