Hi all, my name is Shelby and I’m fundraising for emergency travel to be with my dad in Pennsylvania.

He recently underwent heart surgery, during which he went into cardiac arrest and was clinically dead for ten minutes. He was revived, but the lack of oxygen left him with permanent brain damage. He is currently hospitalized in Lehigh Valley, PA, and I am all the way in Madison, WI.

This situation happened so suddenly and has left me scrambling emotionally and financially. I’m doing everything I can to find help-- calling nonprofits, applying for travel aid, but I’ve come up short. I want nothing more than to be by my dad’s side to support him and say what I need to say while I still can.

Any amount you’re able to donate will go toward transportation (gas, tolls, any necessary maintenance), food on the road (although I will be packing a lot to save money), bills, but most of the unused funds will go towards the cost of the 24 hour care my dad requires after he is released. I’m not asking for anything beyond the bare minimum, just the chance to be with my dad in this critical moment without the weight of financial stress.
