Support Sharon's Fight: ICU Medical Crisis
Donation protected
On June 12, 2025, I carried my mom, Sharon Youket, to the ER with chest pain. They said she had an episode of broken heart syndrome. She spent 5 days in the hospital in Vidalia, GA, and the morning she came home, she started experiencing severe stomach pain. After 3 days at home in pain, she couldn't stand it anymore, so she asked me to carry her back to the ER. When we arrived in Vidalia, she was at death's door; her blood pressure at one point was as low as 58/68, and her kidneys were starting to shut down. It took them most of the night to find out what was causing her problems. They found a perforation in her colon, and it was infected. The doctors didn't give her much hope but said her best chance was to be transferred to Savannah, where they had the facilities to take care of her if she made it through surgery. So they flew her to Savannah Memorial University Medical Center, where she has been in the ICU since. She had 2 surgeries: the first to remove the portion of her colon that was infected and clean the infection out, and the second one to put in a colostomy bag. By the grace of God, she made it through the surgery and stabilized, but she is still on the ventilator and has had another setback this week with cellulitis in her hand where one of her IVs was.
We greatly appreciate all the prayers and support we have received over the last month; without them, we would not have gotten this far. We live 2 hours away from the hospital and have been staying at a motel for the last 3 weeks to be close to her. Any donations given will be used for transportation to and from the hospital and motel expenses.
