Hello My name is Monique Rodriguez I am the daughter of Sharon Leon. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and help support my mother in this time of need.
My mom has had on going health problems that she has managed to the best of her ability. She continued to work and take care of her household which includes her husband granddaughter and great granddaughter.
On September 14 The day before her birthday she was diagnosed with cancer. They explained to her they weren’t sure what kind of cancer and how far along it had progressed. Two days later, she was put into the hospital for kidney failure. One week later, she was returned back to the hospital. Her Body started to become very weak very fast, and her mental status was beginning to deteriorate. Hospital tests were ran and it was determined that she had pancreatic cancer stage four with a malignant fluid that had invaded her abdomen.. Doctor said that her health was unstable and that chemo is not an option, so for the quality of life she had chose to go home on hospice. She was given a six month Time.. And in hopes, we all thought we had more time unfortunately, that was not the case. My mom is in a hospital bed In the comfort of her home however she has not been able to leave the hospital bed. She’s unconscious now and in lots of pain doctor say we have hours maybe days left with her.
My Mom has worked with Catholic charities,Dignity Health, and now Common Spirit for 15 years. It was one of her proud achievements and honors that she had the opportunity to be part of an organization that the sisters of Mercy founded. She felt that she was a part of an organization that God himself had put together, and she was doing her part.
Mom has been the sole provider, always taking care of everybody else, and unfortunately not taking care of herself and at this point, she’s unable to take care of herself anymore. She has a mortgage,car payment, utilities, and funeral cost. They will need to be paid and there is a little in the bank. It is our hope that we can reach out to family, friends, and associates - anybody willing to help in this time of need thank you in advance and God bless.
