It has been nearly a week since Hurricane Milton made landfall on the west coast of Florida, and for Sharon and Eric Tipton the gale force winds severely damaged their roof and utterly destroyed their lanai as the eye of the storm passed nearly right over them. Additionally, they have lost hundreds of dollars in food and other supplies due to power outages. Although many friends and family have already come to their aid, and insurance will cover some of the damages, their deductible is significant and is more than they can bare because they are retired, living on a fixed income, and have invested their life’s savings into their retirement home.
