I have always been a hardworking woman, a devoted mother, and someone who genuinely cares about people. My name is Sharnita Glenn, and I am a single mother of two amazing children, ages 15 and 10. Over the years, I have dedicated my life to healthcare and helping others, especially seniors. Caring for people has never just been a job to me, it has been my passion, my purpose, and honestly, my happy place.

Last year changed my life in ways I never expected.

I lost two jobs back-to-back unexpectedly (LAID OFF). Both losses came completely out of the blue and left me emotionally, mentally, and financially shaken. One moment I was doing everything I could to stay afloat and provide stability for my children, and the next I was trying to figure out how I was going to pay bills, buy groceries, keep gas in my car, and still smile through it all for my kids.

As a single parent, there is no backup plan. There’s no second income to lean on. It’s just me trying to carry the weight of everything while still being present, loving, and strong for my children.

Instead of giving up, I decided to chase something I’ve dreamed about for years — opening my own home care agency, K&E Homecare Agency LLC.

Starting a business from the ground up has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. There are so many expenses people don’t see — licensing fees, insurance, training, marketing, office supplies, transportation, technology, business compliance costs, and everyday operational expenses. I have poured everything I have into building this dream because I truly believe seniors deserve compassionate, dependable care. Helping elderly individuals remain comfortable, respected, and cared for in their own homes brings me genuine joy.

But the truth is… dreams take time to grow.

Right now, things have become extremely difficult financially while I wait for my business to fully take off. I’m balancing entrepreneurship, motherhood, bills, and trying to stay emotionally strong all at the same time. Some days are overwhelming. Some nights I stay awake wondering how I’m going to make everything work.

Recently, my oldest son was accepted into a really great school, a moment that should feel exciting and celebratory as a parent. But instead of only feeling proud, I’ve also been carrying fear and guilt because I honestly do not know if I will be able to cover the tuition and school-related costs while trying to keep my business afloat and support my family.

That breaks my heart.

I want my children to see what perseverance looks like. I want them to know that even when life knocks you down, you keep pushing forward. I want them to see their mother build something meaningful not only for our family, but for our community as well.

I am not asking for luxury.I am not asking for a handout.I am asking for help keeping a dream alive during one of the hardest seasons of my life.
