Hi, my name is Shanice, and I am the mother of a sweet, beautiful 4-year-old boy named Sage, who is autistic. I am creating this GoFundMe because we are so close to finally having a home after being homeless for almost four years — but we need help with the final move-in cost.

Our Story

For the last four years, my son and I have had nowhere permanent to go. We’ve stayed in shelters when there was space, slept in our car when we had no other choice, and relied on family and friends for temporary stays whenever they could help. Through all of this, I have done everything I can to protect my son and keep his routines as stable as possible.

Even with all the obstacles, I never stopped applying for apartments, hoping for a chance at stability. At first, I was denied because of a past electric bill and my credit. I was told that if I paid the bill, I could be reconsidered — so I worked hard, paid it off, and my application was finally approved.

The Last Barrier

Now the only thing standing between us and a real home is the $1,300 move-in cost. I have raised $800 on my own and only need $500 more. After years of instability and doing everything I could just to get this far, I simply do not have the funds to cover this on my own.
