Support Shane & Kaylee's Healing Journey

Hello dear friends and family of Shane, Kaylee, and baby Rune,

My name is Shawna, Shane’s sister. My husband Matt and I recently had the joy of visiting them shortly after the arrival of their beautiful baby boy, Rune Sterling O’Neill. He is precious, and Shane and Kaylee are soaking up this new season of life with gratitude and love.

On our long drive home, Matt and I reflected on just how challenging this season has been for them. We felt a strong desire to rally support on their behalf—and we know so many of you feel the same. That’s why we decided to set up a GoFundMe page as one way for their community to come around them.

Shane and Kaylee recently moved back to Lynchburg, VA to lay down roots, hoping to find work before Rune arrived. Unfortunately, job opportunities have been slower to come than expected. On top of that, Kaylee has faced a difficult postpartum recovery. Seven weeks out, with several medical appointments, she’s still experiencing significant pain and limited mobility, with an expected 7-8 more weeks of recovery. Shane’s full-time presence at home has been essential as Kaylee continues to recover and care for Rune—but it also makes this season financially strained and uncertain.

They’re currently staying in a friend’s basement—grateful for the generosity—but their own home is being rented as an Airbnb in order to cover the mortgage.

If we can raise $10,000, it would allow them to live in their home for the next three months, covering basic living expenses and their mortgage, while Kaylee heals and Shane continues to search for work. This breathing room could make all the difference.
