Where rhythm and play transform lives

Hi, my name is Sergio Murtinho. I’m a high school student, singer-songwriter, and basketball player, born and raised in Ecuador. Since I was little, I’ve always believed in using what I have to help others, donating extra basketballs, clothes, and shoes from my closet to those who need them the most. But this time, I want to do something bigger.

That’s why I created Village Vibes, a social project where music and basketball come together to inspire and empower kids in Ecuador. This summer, I’m returning to my hometown to give back in a more meaningful way by bringing instruments, basketball equipment, and joyful experiences to the amazing children at La Aldea de Niños Cristo Rey.

Who We’re Helping

La Aldea de Niños Cristo Rey is a nonprofit institution in Ecuador that provides a loving home to children who have lost their natural family due to abandonment or extreme hardship. Many of these kids come from vulnerable situations; their families are either unable to care for them or are facing emotional, physical, or legal challenges.

At La Aldea, around 60 children live in small family-style homes with caring women who act as their “mothers.” Each house holds 4 to 10 children of different ages, helping recreate a natural family environment. They receive an education, nutritious meals, emotional support, and a safe, structured life filled with hope.

Their days are full, from school and homework to chores, prayers, and games. What they lack in material things, they make up for in resilience and heart. But they deserve more chances to play, create, and dream.
