Many of you know my father as Sensei Mike from Seigneury Dojo here in Baltimore. It was established in 1988 on Frankford Ave and Bel Air road and then moved in 2015 to Kenwood Ave. My father has taught Judo and Ju Jitsu there to underprivileged youth and also blind students for all these years.

Two years ago my Dad suffered a heart attack and a brain bleed combined that almost took him out. After a short period of time he returned to his dojo to teach and run the school against doctors orders.

But his love for his passion couldn’t keep him away.

Last week my father suffered a second brain bleed and was hospitalized at Franklin Square for 5 days. This time slowed him down considerably. Due to this medical emergency my father is forced to close his Seigneury Dojo unfortunately. He is currently home with my mother and trying to swallow his pride to get around with a walker. He has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him but with your prayers and support he will survive again. I am my father’s oldest son, and I can tell you right now that he is heart broken about closing his school. He has sacrificed tremendously for the children of his community. Never really making a profit but always managing to keep those doors open to have an outreach. Now he has no way of working or teaching. I’ve set this up to help him and my mother through this difficult time to hopefully relieve some of their burden of anxiety. I know these are tough times for everyone but if there’s anything you could donate any help would be greatly appreciated.
