Hello! My name is Makeia and I'm the TT to an energetic, adventurous, lovable 3.5-year-old little boy named Sebastian, aka Bash, or as I like to call him, my "Bash baby." Sebastian has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, level 2. His mom, my incredible sister, sought help immediately when she noticed that Sebastian wasn't reaching milestones or making eye contact with her or family members. Because of her continued efforts and advocacy, she was able to get Sebastian enrolled in our county's early intervention program at 13 months. Since then, Sebastian completed his early intervention program and just this year started attending an early childhood special education preschool program.

I'm creating this GoFundMe to help my sister and nephew obtain a Cubby Bed to ensure that he is sleeping safely. Sebastian has demonstrated some behaviors including head banging, eloping, and burrowing that have made it unsafe for him to sleep alone in his bedroom or in a regular bed. The use of a Cubby Bed would help ensure that Sebastian is safe due to its enclosed sleep system design to prevent falls, wandering, and other dangers. It is also equipped with a soft sound machine, a dome light, and monitors. This is a full-size bed that would not only benefit Sebastian now, but in his future as he continues to grow and develop.

The cost of the Cubby Bed is $14,000 and can be covered through insurance. Unfortunately, insurance denied the coverage of this bed. The good news is that my sister, being the advocate she is, has found a family in Lansing, Michigan that is selling a brand new in-the-box Cubby Bed for $5,500. This cost is much more reasonable and attainable, but I need your help.

With Sebastian's needs and care, my sister, who is an amazing nurse, had to go contingent to ensure that Sebastian gets to all his necessary speech, OT, and PT appointments and his preschool program while waiting for openings for ABA therapy. Thus, resulting in their family relying solely on my brother-in-law's income. Did I mention that there are two teenagers in the home, one just left for college and the other just starting dual enrollment?

Your support and generosity would mean so much to not only me but our family. It would allow my sister to get a good night's sleep after 3.5 years. But in all seriousness, it would provide a safe sleeping arrangement for my Bash Baby, which is of the utmost importance.
