On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, our dad, Sean Fleming, experienced a life altering tragedy: a fire broke out in his home, resulting in the catastrophic loss of nearly everything he owned.
But the most painful part the truly unimaginable was the loss of our dad’s six beloved pets.
Our entire family is grieving. These animals were not just pets they were family. The dogs spent part of their time at their second home with our mom, Darlene Fleming running through the yard, playing fetch and wrestling her dog Bailey. There was never a dull moment with a house full of chaos, joy and most of all, love.
We’re still in shock. There are no words to describe the depth of the pain or the weight of this tragedy.
Sean has always had love for Australian Shepherds, ever since Sadie joined the family seven years ago (Sadie now lives in Connecticut with Montana).
All of the animals with their own unique personality were his home and constant alarm clock.
Remy a 5 year-old Australian Shepherd and the fluffiest of the bunch. He was the group’s protector and the most vocal, always “talking” to share his thoughts. He never missed a chance for pets or a cuddle the moment you sat down. His favorite place to lay was on top of the air vents on hot days. He was the avid bird watcher of the group and would make sure the whole pack knew something was flying overhead.
Scout a gentle, loving 3 year-old Aussie with a calm soul. Scout brought quiet comfort to everyone around him. He'd rest his head on your shoulder during car rides and often slept belly up completely at peace. Scout was this silly one often making you laugh, he gave so many kisses, and would give hugs before falling asleep on your lap.
Jaxx a 6 year-old Aussie with an unforgettable personality. He was a loyal, leash free companion with boundless energy. Ball-obsessed and goofy, Jaxx was always ready to play, even in his sleep with a ball still in his mouth. He loved food and snacks just as much as he loved his toys.
The Bengal cats were full of energy, always climbing to the highest spots and coming running the moment they heard their favorite crunchy treat container. They were lightning fast and full of mischief, often sneaking up behind us before we even knew they were there. They loved napping with the dogs and could often be found playing a game of hide and seek with them, always keeping us entertained.
This complete and heartbreaking loss has left our Dad and the entire family devastated.
Our Dad is the kind of person who does everything for everyone else and never asks for anything in return. He is the one you call when something breaks he will come over to fix it with no hesitations.
We’ve created this fundraiser to support our dad as he begins the long and difficult journey of rebuilding.
All funds raised will go toward:
Final resting arrangements for his beloved pets honoring their memory and the love they gave so freely.
Any remaining proceeds will be donated to the Jersey Shore Animal Shelter in memory of Sean’s mother, Joan Jacquart Fleming, who shared his deep compassion for animals.
If you are able to contribute, from the bottom of our hearts thank you. Your support, kindness, and compassion mean more than words can say during this time of overwhelming grief.
To everyone who has reached out, offered help, or sent love over the past few days thank you.
With love and deep gratitude,
The Fleming Family
