Help Scout Troop 353 Rebuild After Theft of Trailer & Gear
On the night of Saturday, August 22nd, Scout Troop 353’s enclosed gear trailer was stolen from the parking lot of Redlands United Methodist Church in the Redlands area of Grand Junction. Despite the trailer’s hitch and door being secured with locks, thieves managed to bypass the locks and haul away our entire camping setup.
For our Scouts, this trailer was crucial to our outdoor education, leadership training, and camping adventures. Now, as we prepare for upcoming trips, our troop has been left without the essential gear required to adequately take our Scouts into the outdoors.
What Was Stolen & Needs to Be Replaced
We are raising funds to replace both the trailer itself and thousands of dollars’ worth of troop gear that was housed inside:
- The Trailer: A white 14’x7’ single-axle Pace American enclosed trailer equipped with a custom rear locking safety bar and front dual-propane/tire rack. These are distinctive features.
- Camp Kitchen Setup: Two wooden chuck boxes fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, and cleaning supplies, plus 5 full-size propane tanks.
- Cooking Equipment: Multiple camp stoves, including a brand-new, unused 3-burner outdoor stove.
- Camp Essentials: Tents, camp chairs, folding tables, coolers, water containers, and stored firewood supplies.
How You Can Help
Replacing custom-built chuck boxes, tents, stoves, and a utility trailer takes significant funds. Every donation to this campaign goes directly toward purchasing replacement camping gear and securing a replacement trailer so these young leaders can get back on the trail.
