Help Scotty and Kennedy with Their Rare Little Warriors, Iris and Raven

My brother Scotty and sister-in-law Kennedy recently welcomed their incredible twin girls, Iris and Raven, on October 24, 2024. These two little fighters are monoamniotic-monochorionic (mono mono) twins, an incredibly rare and high-risk type of twin pregnancy that happens in only about 1 in 10,000 pregnancies. Mono mono twins share both a placenta and an amniotic sac, which makes these pregnancies high risk and requires constant monitoring to ensure the safety of both babies.

Because of these risks, Kennedy was admitted to the hospital at just 24 weeks pregnant, where she stayed until Iris and Raven were delivered via C-section at 33 weeks. Their early delivery wasn’t a surprise—it’s the safest option for mono mono twins—but it’s still wild to think they aren’t even technically 40 weeks yet! Their original due date was December 12th, 2024, but they’ve already proven themselves to be strong and resilient.

Iris and Raven spent several weeks in the NICU, needing oxygen and feeding tubes as they grew stronger. Scotty and Kennedy were by their sides every step of the way. Kennedy lived full time in the hospital with the babies while Scotty went back and forth every other day with their three year old son at home. We are incredibly grateful to Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, which gave Scotty, Kennedy, and Scott a place to stay nearby during this challenging time.

Now, Iris and Raven are home! Raven is still on oxygen as her little lungs continue to develop, but both girls are doing well. We’re so relieved and filled with gratitude that they’re finally together as a family under one roof.

Since discharge, Scotty and Kennedy are facing overwhelming medical expenses. Their insurance requires a $10,000 out of pocket maximum—and with the new year approaching, they’ll have to meet another $10,000 starting in January. On top of that, there are countless appointments, therapies, and follow-ups required for both girls. Not to mention the cost of gas for all the trips and the added expenses of caring for two preemies.

Raven was readmitted by ambulance less than 48 hours after discharge for a respiratory event which led to breathing challenges. This not only added to the financial strain but really put into perspective how fragile and easily these little girls’ are. It’s a stark reminder of how much care they’ll continue to need as they grow stronger.

This has been an emotionally exhausting experience for the family and yet profoundly fulfilling time for The Morgan family. They’ve never wavered in giving their all for their family. They’re so grateful for Iris and Raven’s strength and the progress they’ve made. They’re dedicated to supporting their girls as they continue to grow and heal.

If you’re able to donate, it would mean the world to us. Every little bit helps ease the burden so they can focus on their family. And if you’re not in a place to give, sharing this fundraiser would help just as much.

We’re so thankful for the care Iris and Raven have received and the support from everyone around us. These two little fighters have come so far, and we’re filled with hope and gratitude for every step of their journey.
