Make Savannah's Accessible Living a Reality
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Savannah Grayson & I'm 25 years old. I have a disability called Cerebral Palsy which requires me to use a walker or power wheelchair to navigate my community. Growing up I've never lived in a wheelchair accessible home and currently I still don't. when I turned 18 years old, I began applying for different housing opportunities that would accommodate my mobility devices and allow me to live independently. After 7 years of multiple applications, apartment tours of inaccessible spaces and finding complexes outside of my price range, I've been approved for a fully accessible apartment within Section 8 funding resources. With this opportunity, I finally have the chance to fulfill my journey towards independence. In recent time it has become very difficult and unsafe for my older aged parents to carry my super heavy wheelchair up and down the stairs. It has become mentally and physically exhausting for me to continue to live in an inaccessible place where I'm constantly dependent on others to get me and my mobility devices in and out of my current apartment. I cannot have my full quality of life and independence while being in this position. Thankfully with the help of government assistance, I am now able to live accessibly. However, I was rejected for resources to cover my security deposit which I need in order to be able to move in to my apartment. Please if you can find it in your heart to donate to help, raise enough money for my security deposit, it would be eternally appreciated. Having this apartment would change my life for the better in very big ways. Thank you all. With much love, Savannah.❤️
