On 02/24/26, Saterra Johnson’s home was lost to a fire in Prince George’s County, MD. Saterra is a valued part of our Administrative Support team at DCHS and is usually one of the first people our client’s are greeted by on the 10th Floor at the MCD building. With her permission, we’ve set up this page to help streamline any donations you may be able to offer as she works to rebuild her home. We know some have already contributed and she thanks each and every one of you. Saterra has also shared with us her own words below:

In a matter of moments, our lives were turned upside down by an apartment fire that severely damaged the home my partner and I share.

One of the most frightening parts of this experience is that our dog was inside the home when the fire started while we were at work. By God’s grace, he survived, and we are incredibly thankful that his life was spared.

In an instant, we lost our belongings and everyday essentials. While we are working through the insurance process, it takes time, and right now we are focused on replacing basic necessities and recovering from the unexpected losses caused by the fire.

This fundraiser is to help us begin replacing those essentials and covering the unexpected expenses that come with starting over after a fire. While nothing can replace what was lost, any support will help us take the next steps toward rebuilding and getting back on our feet.

We are incredibly grateful for any support during this time. Donations will help with clothing, dog items, personal items, and other immediate needs as we work to rebuild after this tragedy.
