Hello!
This July, I’m backpacking 175 miles around Lake Tahoe over two weeks with three of my high school friends. We’ll be carrying everything on our backs and hiking through some tough terrain, including over 25,000 feet of climbing and descending. We will be hiking 10-15 miles a day at high altitude and setting up our camp each night under the stars. It’s going to be physically and mentally challenging (especially navigating on our own without parents) and that is one reason I am called to this adventure!
The second reason is I’ve always had a love for nature. Spending two weeks in the mountains feels exciting and heart-filling. I wanted to turn this experience into something that could also inspire and help others.
Why The Foodbank
I’ve been raising money for the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County this school year by singing at the Farmers’ Market, and it’s something I’ve come to really care about.
Living in Santa Barbara, it’s not always easy to see how many people in our own community are struggling daily with access to food. I really admire that the Foodbank focuses on providing fresh produce and healthy food, often sourced from local farms, and supports families across our County. The Foodbank is also facing over $1.5 million in funding cuts right now, while the need continues to grow, which makes our support even more important.
A Few Quick Foodbank Facts
- 37% of the people served are children (over 200,000 people supported yearly)
- 1 in 3 people in Santa Barbara County rely on the Foodbank for food
- The Foodbank distributes 11+ million pounds of food annually
- Nearly half of the food is fresh produce
- EVERY $1 DONATED BUYS $5 WORTH OF FOOD!
My Goal
My personal goal is to raise $5,000. Our group goal is to raise $10,000. This goal will allow the Foodbank to provide $50,000! worth of food for children and people in need in Santa Barbara County.

PS I’m also bringing my ukulele and might share a few songs from the trail along the way :)
