Thank you for all of your generosity! Frank (Sanifu) is healthy, safe and living with family. These funds will be transferred to Sanifu to purchase clothes and shoes as well as other items needed for his day to day. Sanifu is a proud, 75 year old veteran and a hardworking man who has proudly owned his home in Baltimore since 1969. For 56 years, he worked hard to maintain his property and his independence. He is not the type to ask for help, but the events of the last 24 hours are a situation no one should ever have to face alone.
The Loss of a Lifetime in 12 Hours
During this brutal winter storm, a fire broke out and destroyed Sanifu’s home. As a result of the fire, Sanifu was rushed to Shock Trauma.
While still in the hospital being treated for the shock and the aftermath of the fire, the situation turned even worse. Within 12 hours—with no notice, no phone call, and no opportunity to salvage anything—the City of Baltimore moved in and demolished the remains of his house.
Before he could even be discharged or process the loss of his home, the structure was leveled. He has been left with absolutely nothing but the clothes he wore to the hospital.
Why Your Support is Critical
Sanifu has spent his life being self-reliant and resilient. However, being hospitalized while your home is demolished without your knowledge is an unimaginable burden. We are raising funds to help him with:
- Immediate Housing: Ensuring he has a safe, warm, and stable place to go once he is fully recovered and out of the hospital.
- Essentials: Replacing the clothes, shoes, and daily necessities lost to the fire and the bulldozers.
- A Path Forward: Helping him navigate the sudden and total loss of his property and everything inside it.
