Helping our Heart Sister, Sandie Wright. She is one to never ask for help but always giving her heart for all. We are asking for help to ease her stress to give her strength as she fights stage IV Breast Cancer.
Let us tell you about our heart’s sister, Sandie. We are not related by blood, but highs and lows over 20 years of friendship. Sandie is a mom to five wonderful girls (in a blended family; the girls she didn’t give birth to, she adopted and loves as her own) and two grandsons, with another on the way. Three of her girls are still at home with her.
In January, she noticed a lump in her breast. In March, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lobular Carcinoma Breast Cancer with Metastasis to her Liver, Spine and Femur . In April, it was re-evaluated to Stage IV Cancer. Her husband of over 10 years also moved out in January for reasons unrelated to the cancer. Since then, she has been fighting for her life both medically and financially. Although she has had a good response to chemotherapy, as expected, it is taking its toll on her. She is scheduled for surgery next month (September) as part of her medical plan.
With the upcoming finalization of the divorce, she will be losing her medical coverage and is also trying to cover the expense of lawyers. Additionally, she may need to relocate from the family home, which might need to be sold. She has been working throughout her cancer treatments for a great small company that has been wonderful about allowing her the time off she needs.
We, her heart sisters, and her parents ( plus family in Germany) have spent the last eight months encouraging her to ask for help, reminding her that none of us go through life alone. She has finally agreed to let us post a GoFundMe to help with expenses during this time of need. Any money raised will be used to support Sandie and the girls still at home, allowing them to continue to move forward. The last thing someone going through cancer should have to worry about is keeping a roof over their head and food on the table for their children
