Support Sanaa Burston's Debutante Journey

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well. I am excited to share with you a significant milestone in my life—I have been selected as a 2024 Emerald and Ivory Debutante, graciously hosted by the Essex County (NJ) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated (ECCL).

This leadership program is the ECCL’s signature program and is offered every other year, by invitation only, to outstanding high school juniors and seniors in Northern New Jersey who have demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to community service. The program, which began in February and culminates in December with the Emerald and Ivory Debutante Cotillion ball, is designed to foster leadership among young women and raise funds for service programs. The ECCL is involved heavily in a number of service programs such as the support of the arts, advocating for legislation that is important to those in need, conducting school programs on healthy diet and exercise for young children, and providing much needed aid and support for schools in Africa and Jamaica. I am reaching out to you because, as a Debutante, I have been charged with raising at least $5,000 through ticket sales, solicitation of ads for the souvenir booklet, and/or patron donations. In addition to funding ECCL’s service programs, the Debutante who raises the most money will be crowned Ms. Emerald and Ivory at the Debutante Cotillion ball in December.

I’ve initiated this fundraising campaign to solicit patron donations. Donors will be acknowledged through a “Thank You” ad in the souvenir booklet that will be created by me.

By supporting my fundraising efforts, you are investing in me and the community. Your support also encourages me to continue to strive for greatness and to make you all proud. It means a lot.
