Benefit For Sambou Leigh And Family
Hello. My name is Brian Hronek. I reside in BC, Canada.
There's not much to say about me, really. I was raised to care for the well-being of all people. I'm not unique. Donating to charities is another way we manifest that, I suppose. This charity is for a family I've come to know and care for. I have a opportunity to lift a family out of a desperate situation and with your help, guide them into self sufficiency and greater opportunity.
This charity is for the family of Sambou Leigh, a wonderful young man living in the least developed country globally, Gambia. Although a beautiful country, Gambia poses many challenges for Sambou and his loved ones.
I met Sam after his remarkable photography caught my attention online. A friendship sprang from what began as idle cultural curiousity on either side, and his situation affected me profoundly. I've lived a wildly different life, but I also lost my father at a young age.
He's 22 years old yet cares for and has had to provide for his mother and 3 younger siblings since his father's untimely death when he was 17. His father sustained terminal injuries in a motor vehicle hit and run while on a bicycle. That day Sambou was left as man of house. Providing necessities for any family is difficult to say the least, and the past few years have been a challenge for him. Being left with a burden of responsibility at such a young age is crippling to the spirit. Sam has hope, and I see it.
He lives with his mother, two brothers of 16 & 11 years of age, and his 4 year old sister. I know Sambou Leigh to be a good man. He's compassionate, polite, humble and driven to a better life for those around him. They also live in a township that doesn't see a lot of opportunities without supports. Helplessness and desperation are rampant. Impacted by him and his story, I feel deeply obligated to assist.
Proceeds shall go to Sambou in an effort to provide necessities for his family and land a suitable place to rent with a couple bedrooms and a yard to start their farming business plan from. The money will provide food, water, electricity, heating / cooking fuel, medical provisions, and some educational materials such as books.
These funds are calculated to provide for the family for 4-5 months. This provides time to locate adequate lodgings to replace the tiny shanty shack they presently live in. The plan hinges on more reasonable accommodations for them and the farm. The time frame is heavily reliant on contributions to the Leigh family charity itself.
The first $1500 will go to food, water, light, heating, clothes and securing a place to live for Sam and fam.
At $2500 a good secondary portion of the proceeds are bound for the Leigh family farm business plan itself. A small farming plot for fruit, vegetables and small livestock are crucial to their future of providing for themselves and others. This money is bound for set up and initial administration of the family business. Purchase of tools, materials and livestock.
What follows is in Mr Leigh's own words describing his intentions and plans;
"Right now, we’re really struggling to meet basic needs like food and medical care, which has made things especially hard on my siblings and me. I want to make sure they have at least one proper meal every morning, so they can stay healthy and focus on their education and future. We’re also living in a place that isn’t safe or comfortable, and I feel it’s important to move to a better environment where my family can have proper shelter and peace of mind. Having a stable home would mean so much to us.
In the long run, I’m determined to find a way to support my family independently. I want to create opportunities not just for my family but also for myself to grow and thrive.
Money for rent will find us a better place where it’s more secure and clean environment. We are interested in a small house with a fenced yard to grow food we can sell.
I am sure this GoFundMe page could be the first step toward turning things around. With the kindness and generosity of people who believe in us, we could cover basic needs, move to a better place, and work toward a more sustainable future. I have scheduled everything with my family and we have arranged our basic need including the food , electricity, rent , medical care , water , our daily breakfast and investment for the future.
As a family we have a business plan. Everyone love to do garden where we can grow fruits and vegetables in the garden and sell it in the market. We will have small shop at the market where we can sell it here. A lot of people invest in fruits business, Once we have garden it will change our life. We will grow fruits and vegetables and the same time. We can raise chickens and even supply hotel and restaurants for the chickens and produce. We have good experience in garden this will be change our life for more than 6 to 7 years it’s a lifetime investment for us here. We want to provide for ourselves and others in the future after all our problems.
I can’t believe if such thing happened to our life. This is dream to us and we are so glad you have the heart to help me and my family to be out of this situation.
Thanks for encouraging me in life."
Thank you for your time and consideration.
