Hi Everyone, my name is Sammy Mercado. I’m asking for your help in raising money for my daughter, Samantha Hardy. On April 10, she was due to be induced to give birth. Unfortunately, before she got to the hospital, doctors believe she suffered a stroke. Unresponsive, she was still able to give birth to a beautiful baby girl, Noa Lucille Hardy, 6 lbs 2 oz.
Still unresponsive, she was placed on a ventilator for 7 days to relieve swelling in her brain. On April 18, the ventilator was removed.
Samantha has yet to speak clearly and has trouble remembering what day or month it is, as well as where she’s at. Doctors now believe that Samantha has ADEM. It's a condition where the immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord, causing inflammation and potentially damaging the myelin sheath, which insulates nerve fibers.
Samantha is still in the hospital being treated. Doctors expect a full recovery, but it will take 6 months to a year to be fully recovered.
The goal is to allow Samantha to fully recover without the worry of money. Samantha has been through a lot, as last May she lost a baby at 24 weeks. This pregnancy, she carried the baby for 38 weeks.
**62 weeks pregnant and has yet to hold her baby.**
Any donations, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
Samantha also has a 4-year-old son named Elijah.
