My mom, Samantha, was diagnosed with recurrent endometrial cancer in June 2025 (she first beat it in 2021). She made a trip to the er thinking she was having a diverticulitis flare and doctors found a 7.5 cm mass in her lymph nodes in her pelvis. She started chemo on July 17th, just 3 days after her birthday. She finished her 1st round of 6 chemo on Oct 30th. Now we are waiting on the oncologists and tumor board to decide on what round 2 will be. Eventually she will be having surgery to remove the tumor, remove a portion of her intestines, and remove part of her artery and replace it with an artery from her leg.

Since she works with kids with autism in a clinic, there are way too many germs for her to safely go to work while doing chemo, so she's living off of short term disability, which is 50% of her pay. A couple weeks ago she received a phone call from her HR that since she has exhausted the 12 weeks of FMLA, they were moving her from full time to part time. Which makes her ineligible for benefits.

In short, she lost her health insurance.

She was able to get new insurance through the marketplace, but this comes with steep deductibles and co pays, and then will have to start them over again on Jan 1st, in less than 2 months.

I love you, mom. I wish I could help more outside of phone/video calls and coming to visit. But the least I can do is ask for help.

Let's beat cancer again, but maybe this time can we kick it for good?
