Support Samantha and Kylie in their fight

Hello all! My name is Sidney! We’re trying to raise funds for Samantha and Kylie Mathew’s. While dealing with this absolute nightmare Sam’s had to take off work to spend multiple days in the hospital with Kylie, and also had needed to appear in court a few times already and will be doing both more often because of this unfortunate situation. I haven’t been very vocal about what’s going on with Kylie due to the huge back story and legal purposes. But at this point I’m frustrated, hurt and scared. But I’ve stayed silent for way too long. It’s to the point I’m being taken advantage of and walked all over.

On July 26th Kylie woke up with petechia (all over her face, neck, behind her ears and bruising on her back. I took her Norton Scott right away. The dr said it was possibly a blood clot disorder and said the bruising looked self inflicted from scratching. We stayed at the ER for 8 hours trying to get sis to pee and she wouldn’t. They asked if we wanted to go home and if we had anymore concerns we could follow up with her pediatrician!

As most people know dr. Snow left the schneck pediatric office July 1st. I was in the process of getting Kylie’s medical records switched over for her to see my primary care physician! On August 23rd Kylie woke up again with bruising and petechia. I made the decision to wait till Monday to take her to schneck pediatric for walk ins! to get a process started for further testing that the ER in Scottsburg could not offer!

The nurse practitioner asked if specific blood clot disorders ran in her or her dad’s family. I said I was not sure. Her instructions were. Let’s request the blood work from Norton Scott and get a pee sample from her today and go from there. Kylie once again would not pee. So they sent us home with a cup to get a sample and return. We went home.

Tuesday August 27th I took Kylie’s urine to outpatient labs at schneck hospital. By 6PM I receive a call at work AND mind you I work for dispatch so we received the call that dcs and officers were going to our home because schneck called dcs for suspected child abuse!

I rushed home. Scottsburg dcs asked if I would be willing to take Kylie to Norton children’s for a skeletal exam. Indiana State police sellersburg stated they don’t have any reason to believe Kylie was being abused and that was it for them. THEN how unprofessional of the Scott county dcs to call one of the state troopers wives and go off on them for saying that??? Finally I agreed to the exam at Norton children’s and we went. During our 4 day stay! Norton children’s came to the conclusion that Kylie was being abused and that she didn’t just “wake up with those things on her” and claim there were dark spots on her wrist and foot indicating a possible fracture or healing feature. Dcs originally let me sign a safety plan and let me take Kylie home. Then 2 hours later the same dcs worker came in and took my baby into emergency removal from the home.

I was/am a MESS! My baby is loved, spoiled and no one in her life would ever hurt her. Her father and I don’t get along but even still I don’t for a second believe he would hurt her either.

Fast forward to the afternoon of September 6th. Kylie has now been in state custody for 6 days! I got to see Kylie every other day as I’m allowed. I arrive to my visiting and she was having difficulty breathing and breathing retractions. I called the case worked and told her we were going to the ER!

We arrived at Norton Scott and they take her back immediately. They do an X ray and find her whole right side of her chest if full completely of fluid so bad that it’s pushing her heart to the other side of her body and her oxygen is dangerously low. They transport her right her back to Norton children’s. AND MIND YOU DCS GAVE ME PERMISSION to ride with EMS to Norton children and Scott county EMS denied me over and over and over. so I had to get a ride to be dropped off there and hope Nortons tells me she has arrived.

We arrive BACK at Norton children’s and they do ultrasounds, X-rays and blood work and that same night within a couple hours Kylie has to have emergency surgery and a chest tube put in the drain the fluid.

She comes out of surgery and they find a fluid called “Chyle” which can be caused by cancers, trauma, infection (pneumonia), lymphoma or blockages. Are the normal things this come from. As of now everything but lymphoma has been ruled out! We are 21 days since this was found and STILL leaking and draining with no answers.

Also found was 3 things wrong with Kylie’s heart.

She has a large ASD, bicuspid aortic valve malfunction to the left side and borderline mitral valve prolapse. Which affects your blood flow and oxygen and causes one side of your heart to work harder than the other.

Stay with me now because this isn’t to bash the hospital fully. We have been treated AMAZING since we arrived back! The nursing staff for the PICU, 6th floor, surgeon and even the nutrition team have been so great. BUT why won’t the hospital let anyone see the X-rays from the previous week visit? They supposedly didn’t see anything wrong? And didn’t see this leak?? And myself had concerns about her blood work that no one would answer. Dcs, other hospitals and myself who have requested these records and X-rays all have been ignored. EVEN her primary care physician is blocked from seeing them and he said they CANT do that! We are almost on a month of NO one seeing these results! I have asked multiple times to see these things since we’ve been here and I get ignored.

Fast forward again to September 20th a skeletal follow up was done to STATE NO FRACTURE OR HEALING FRACTURE WAS FOUND! I immediately send that to my attorneys and dcs case worker. I was told they wouldn’t staff for Kylie to come back to my care till MONDAY! Monday came and dcs still refused to let Kylie come home. Told me my significant other needed to get out of my home. But by this point I’ve already lost my relationship… so I let them know. They say ok let’s do a home visit tomorrow so at the hearing Wednesday we can talk about her coming home.

DCS comes. STATES they are prepared for my attorney to drop this. Because at this point they have nothing AND Kylie NEEDS to be home. here we are Friday… and Kylie still is not home… I’m being walked all over. I’m doing EVERYTHING to get her home and they keep shutting me down. NORTONS refuses to show anyone everything and it’s bullshit!

I feel like this is literally every mother’s worst nightmare. 1. I turned to schneck pediatrics for help! And they turned on me 2. Wrongfully accused of child abused and my baby was taken. And it isn’t even ME they are blaming the abuse on! But dcs is just guessing!

3. SO many medical things showing up out of no where with no answers for my baby. And because of this I have no control over my child or her medical decisions

The hospital has said Kylie’s condition is RARE. I even signed a release form for them to do a medical journal on this for other drs to learn from as they find what this is.

So my question is WHY has this dr. Melissa Currie who’s never seen my daughter claiming child abuse and she had GRAVE concerns not being told of these new medical updates? And why is no one pushing to get these Xray images either?? It’s been proven she was WRONG and from my understanding dcs is waiting for a changed statement from her. So why are we dragging our feet??

Medical stuff like this on a child/toddler is traumatizing. So let’s just rip her away from her mother on top of that right? And let the state make met medical decisions when I WAS seeking a help for her! Treat her home life apart so even when she does return the people she loves and sees every day won’t be there. Her best friend won’t be there.

I will NEVER step foot in schneck hospital again! And maybe some of you should consider that too.

And I will give credit where it’s due. Floyd county dcs and Washington county dcs have been wonderful and let me stay with Kylie this whole time in the hospital. Washington county has fought to an extent to get Kylie home.

But Scott county dcs. You need to seriously work on your people skills and the way you treat people.

Also I want to state I know there are children in this world who are mistreated, abused and neglected every day. So that’s why hospitals have policy’s to call and dcs does the things they do…. But that isn’t the case here. I took my baby to get help because I KNEW something wasn’t right and the system turned on me. And she was barely out of my care for a couple days and she almost died! This has been proven to be all medical. And we are still waiting on even more tests to come back. And MIND YOU all of these decisions were made without anyone dcs, courts, me and other drs. Even seeing these X-rays or results. And it was stated in court 48 hours after Kylie was taken that..,. “If this was medical we would know by now” and look what happened days later. Because they went off the word of a Dr. WHO WAS WRONG!

It’s ok even as a corporation to be wrong and admit it. But to hide stuff but everyone who has RIGHTS to see it and keep dragging it out and digging is ridiculous!!!

Kylie deserves to be home. And why do I feel like I’m the only one fighting.
