As most of you know, Sam and Matthew Penny are a beautiful couple who are close to all of our hearts. After getting engaged and Sam becoming pregnant in 2017, they were both excited about the years ahead together as a family. On Boxing Day 2017 Matt woke with stomach pain, which he thought could be appendicitis. With all doctors surgeries closed over the Christmas break, they went to A&E. After several scans and an incredible, thorough medical team at Manly hospital they were informed that Matt has metastatic stage 4 bowel cancer.
As you can imagine this was the biggest shock given how young and healthy Matt is - he's know as the Ironman amongst friends, competing in triathlons and never missing a day to live life to the full.
Matt is currently undergoing treatment to halt the progress of the cancer including chemotherapy, which is taking its toll. He's also just undergone major surgery to remove some of the tumours. With their beautiful young daughter born in June this year, there is a lot going on in their lives. The effects of the chemotherapy are tough and he is currently suffering the horrible side effects, whilst being supported by his amazing best friend Sam.
Sam and Matt are an incredible, popular and health conscious couple; regularly taking part in triathlons and raising money for other causes. They have been overwhelmed by the support of friends and family who have sent gifts and food to help support them. Their resilience and positive outlook is inspiring. However, with a question mark over future income, a young baby to support and some very expensive medical bills, money stresses are creeping in.
We feel that this campaign is a great way that people can show love and support whilst helping to relieve some of the stresses around money. Please donate what you are able to in order to help support them in this fight! Thank you!
